I first connected with Adam, when he sent me an email to tell me about a pro-European concert he was organising and to express his support for my activism. We connected on Instagram and have been friends ever since, although I have never had the opportunity to meet him in person!
Adam is a multidisciplinary classical pianist of Nigerian-Filipino ancestry and winner of the 2020 Harriet Cohen Back Prize and reached the BBC Young Musician piano finals. He was born in Hong-Kong and adopted by Irish parents - so seemed like the perfect participant for my project!
Adam sent me loads of great photos to work from. As a professional musician, he of course had some high-quality professional photos for me to use, as well as some cool holiday snaps!
Unusually, I was happy with all of the sketches I produced of Adam, but this was my favourite and the image I will use for the final portrait:
