Sheffield Community Connections Evening

The Sheffield Community connections evening was organised by my wonderful friends Lora Krasteva and Livia Barreira (who are both featured in my migrant identity research project)!

It was a wonderful evening funded by Sheffield council and part of a series of events intending to engage creative communities with their recently published Culture Strategy. Lora and Livia did an incredible job of organising and hosting the evening which gave local communities the opportunity to share their projects and ask questions to a staff member from the council.

In Lora's invitation to the event she included the dress code:

“As this is an evening of celebration we also encourage you to come as festive and fabulous as you want!" and I warned her I would not hold back!

The event included an open mic slot - and Johann learned the chords to one of my songs, so that we could perform together. I also brought my percussion instruments and encouraged the audience to join in the collective musical intervention.
