Oil painting on canvas, A4.
I'll be honest, I am not super enthusiastic about doing pet portraits. However, it was one of the most frequent things I am commissioned to create but I try to avoid it when I can afford to... This portrait was for a friend, and I quite liked the cute photo of the kitten in a jumper playing with his toy - so I agreed to work from that. As a technical exercise, I think it's good to do this type of painting once in a while, as I value being able to create artwork with technical accuracy. I was especially pleased with how the eyes turned out in this painting. The background I kept fairly abstract and plain so as not to distract from the cat himself. And I used oil paints in order to give texture to the piece.
