I started with the linework in waterproof ink for Nikita's portraits. I have a cheat method for accuracy of using my Macbook screen as a lightbox - to get the proportions correct before filling in the detail.
I then added the splashes of colours in watercolour paint. Alike with Livia, Nikita didn't give me explicit colours to use but sent me a pdf with a series of photographs to take the colours from - so it was a bit of colour-matching guess work which ones to go for.
I then made the cubist style oil-pastel design for a bigger oil painting. I think this one matched the colours she sent me more closely.
