Motaz is the last of the ten portraits I had to paint. I wasn't sure if I would be able to get them all finished by the end of this week (From tomorrow, I will be travelling for the next month) - however, I think I've been getting faster and I managed to get the last three portraits finished far quicker than the first three. I also think they've turned out better - which has made me wonder, how much I could improve the style if I found more people to paint.

I loved Motaz's colour selection; white and black, yellow, red and brown. They work really well as a combination.

I chose a photo of him smiling - to represent his optimism, resillience and positive disposition.

My main criticism of this portrait is the lack of light and shadow, which was due to the photograph I was working from - I think it makes the portraits come out looking flatter. In the future, if I have the possibility, I would try to capture photographs with more dynamic shadows to work from

Despite this, I'm quite happy with how the portrait has turned out - it makes me think of the sunshine because it radiated warmth and positive energy.
