March for Rejoin III - The Troll Reaction

I was delighted to be invited to speak at the third national Rejoin march in London on Saturday 28th September. I made some posts announcing the event on my social media with Alamy photos (which I recently purchased) from the first Rejoin march. Unsurprisingly the trolls have launched into another tirade of abuse... I guess that's just more material for the "troll comment" dress and performance I am planning.

First up is a retweet from the ever delightful model, Jo Marney, who rose to fame as the 25-year-old mistress of former-UKIP party leader, 55-year-old, Henry Bolton. Jo described the Rejoin activists as 'smurfs' which I believe was intended as an insult. However, as one of my Instagram followers informed me 'Smurfs were imagined in Belgium, so, they are part of European culture. In the plot of cartoon, Smurfs are the good side. So, describing the ideological opponent as one of them, she positioned herself as an antagonist.'

I replied to a couple of them to begin with but I got bored quickly and let other people jump in on my behalf afterwards.

I did find one thread particularly amusing...

But the rest were mundane and abusive, including the usual misogynistic nonsense and mental health slurs...

I found the 'super brat' insult quite funny since it's become quite trendy recently to be called 'brat'.

(Joel is a friend of mine who has often campaigned alongside me in costume).
