Marcelo's Colours

Updated: Nov 16

Marcelo took the colour brief to heart and gave me the following, brilliantly poetic response:

ORANGE

This is my inner fire colour which is a burning spiral. But also it's the burnt orange exterior which is Matt and smells of clove and orange blossom.

BLACK

This is my energetic vortex where I throw all negativity and make it disappear, I tred on the edge of light and dark and I like the balancing act.

GREY

I really believe in shades and variations and I've never been a fan of absolutes. I like grey because it's the colour the eats away at colour

White

I see myself as a light worker and I do see that light as bright and containing a myriad of other colours. It's blinding. But also comforting

YELLOW

This complements the orange but it's younger and more silly. It's Sun Sol goddex and bouncing around. It's electric and warming

I started off by drawing the linework in waterproof ink before adding the watercolour splatters.

I couldn't decide between these two great portrait photos, so I decided to draw both of them.

It seemed redundant to add white splatters since the paper is white, but I will use white oil paint for the final portrait.

My scanner rather hilariously made its own artistic interpretation of Marcelo...

Finally I made the oil pastel portrait - which is a draft version for the final oil portrait.
