This the third time I have been to Bavaria and it's really delightful to see how the landscape changes with the seasons - and also witness different cultural traditions; Oktoberfest, Christkindlmarkten, Fashing, etc. It started snowing on the day I arried, so I had a week of wandering this magical winter wonderland...
The weather warmed up significantly in the second week and we had some beautiful sunny days even though the temperature was still rather chilly!
We visited an animal sanctuary for rescued farm animals/pets called Gut Aiderbichl.
I loved all the animals but my favourites were the minature ponies, they were so forlorn but liked being petted, as did the sheep.

We also went hiking up Zwiesel in Bad Reichenhall, which had a beautiful view and a little kiosk where you could buy coffeee, beer and scnapps (probably not advisory to drink too many if you want to get back down the mountain safely - it was very steep and slippery in the snow!).
I also attended the "Fashing" carnival party and parade in Bad Reichenhall ...
