Abstract Mark Making

I unintentionally ended up with a stack of those small canvas boards - which I don't particularly like painting on... So, I decided to use them for some abstract acrylic painting experimentation.

These three didn't turn out to be anything particularly interesting.

This one was a bit more interesting, I was trying to add layers of different types of marks.

I was pretty happy with how this one turned out, because of the many layers of texture. The pink wash in the background was thin enough you can see the canvas texture, on top are the gelatinous, thick splatters and then marks in white and black made with a fine paint brush.

This one was my favourite. I think the colour combination works particularly well and the linework can be read both as hands or sea coral - which I think adds some intrigue to the piece.
